Syracuse.com Hansel and Gretel review

Syracuse Opera's 'Hansel & Gretel' a real treat

By Joan Vadeboncoeur

“Wicked” is long gone from Central New York, but Syracuse Opera was fielding its own evil witch this past weekend with “Hansel & Gretel.”

The witch flies through the air — twice — and is blown to bits after the title siblings shove her in the oven. That’s pretty impressive in the area of special effects.

......

Jennifer Roderer steals the show as the over-the-top witch, which is to be expected. However, Steven Stull as the roistering father also brings a strong element of fun.
